Hi, you!

I’m a wife and mama who loves all things health and wellness. I ask questions and regularly challenge the “we’ve always done it this way, so why stop now” narrative. My goal in the work I do in this Clean Becky space is to plant seeds of empowering information as a partner with you on your own clean living journey. Progress over perfection always. We can do it all, but not all in one day. One positive, clean living step at a time.

  • We don’t do stretch and folds for our sourdough. And we’re okay. We’ll all be okay. You like stretch and folds? You like to cart your sourdough around with you for errands? You do you boo, but that’ll never be me. Life is good. Bake the sourdough. Life is complicated enough, let’s learn to skip steps that aren’t required.

Fresh outta the oven sourdough, slathered with butter is LIFE GIVING. I will die on this hill. You do your stretch and folds, I’ll skip mine, we can both enjoy our sourdough! Comment below when you come to the shortcut side with me🙌🫣
  • Yes, I know I’m late to this trend. Ask me if I care😉.
If you know my husband, you know him as a calm, curious, and incredibly entrepreneurial human, who loves a good joke, will always offer to make you a coffee and be up for any adventure that comes across his path. My little business wouldn’t be where it is today without him and his practical perspective on all things that tend to get me all tied up in emotional knots.
It’s not all butterflies and roses over here either, but the good stuff of life never is🫶🏻!

“Relationships don’t last because of the good times; they last because the hard times were handled with love and care”.

If you know him be sure to wish him a Happy Birthday🎈 today.

16 years ago we started the journey of sharing this day with deep grief💔. My brother left us earthside and we’ve never been the same. So while this day brings on layers of heavy story, it also brings full circle the need to celebrate and be celebrated. We only have one short beautiful life. How rare and beautiful it is to even exist🙏🏻. John 1:3-5
  • I’m not an expert and I don’t have a step by step guide to give you. Over the past 6 years that I’ve been baking Sourdough, I’ve incorporated a variety of points from talented artisans to create my own baking rhythms, but never one version and I still tend to break all their rules too, ha!

Here’s my short list of “tips”:
1. Relax, take a breath, STOP overthinking it.
2. Skip stretch & folds, they’re dumb😂 - I’m a sourdough purist baker’s worst nightmare.
3. Make sure your starter passes the “float test”, because that means it’s nice and active and bubbly.
4. Let it do its ferment thingy
5. Bake in HOT (heated at temp for 30m-1hr) Dutch oven.
HAVE FUN with it. It’s better as a rhythm than a clinical process.

The most “regimented” part of my sourdough process is the measurements. I do use a kitchen scale and do a ratio of 425 grams lukewarm water, 200 grams bubbly starter, 650 grams flour (I use @jovialfoods einkorn or organic all purpose flour) and 15-20 grams of flaky sea salt.
The next most important thing I do is bake in a preheated Dutch oven! Even the most neglected dough will rise to the baking challenge in a🔥Dutch oven. Parchment & a little water underneath are two more details that I never skip!

Want my a list of my sourdough baking must haves? Comment ‘Sourdough’ below and I’ll send them your way!

So stop overthinking it! Sourdough is an ancient process, why do we try to make it so complicated ? Bake the sourdough! Eat the sourdough. Enjoy this one short, beautiful life you have!
